Monday Morning and the sun is shinning, yippee yahoo hooray!

I hope that you all had a FABULOUS weekend! It was my birthday weekend and I turned 22. I had a girlz pizza/nail/movie/sangria partay at my place on Friday night, Saturday I spent the day wine tasting in Napa with a bestie, and Sunday I spent with the famille (that’s family for all of you who don’t speak proper Francais 😉 ). I’ll post pictures on Insta @fashionsandfilosophies of my packed weekend.
FUNFACT: JJ and I have the SAME birthday, April 10!  So make sure to follow her foodie filled adventures on Insta as well @jlnzhang.

Today’s post will be the remainder of the Trunk Club styling series. I received some Beyonce tops, dark ripped jeans, super mega cute floppy leather moto jacket, and some sick purp-grey Jeffrey Campbell platform heels.

Check it all out below, and of course, let me know your thoughts…

Girl in Chains

Hey everyone!

I hope you are mega hyped about today’s follow up post featuring items from TrunkClub. For those of you just catching onto the blog, (welcome!!). TrunkClub is a place where you can hire a personal stylist within your city to send you amazing clothing, shoes, and accessories for whatever occasion. They send you around 15-20 versatile pieces, and you can see the trunk beforehand to scope out items you like/dislike. If you’d like to give them a try (which I definitely recommend), click here, and you will get $50 off!

Today’s post features the lace up tassel heels from Ivanka trump for a flirty yet classy look. The second outfit is a play on play of denim, high top lace shorts, studded Marc Jacobs clogs, and a soft nude lip. I went nude because I thought that the outfit didn’t need to be more rugged then it already looked, so a softer tone could make it still look feminine. There’s really something about this second look that makes me feel really powerful. Usually I am not a fan of my legs, (every woman has her insecurities!), these soft lace shorts from TopShop (sent in my Trunk) were so comfy and made me feel tall and slim. This is my favorite denim shirt because I can open up the buttons for a light breezy feel or I can button it all the way to my neck to be a more mysterious look. (When I button it all the way to the top, I wear a dark vampy lipstick and it is to die for!)

Anyways, I’ll quit rambling and show you the monayyyy… Ahem Ahem:

Let me know what you think about these outfits! Dying to hear your feedback!

Welcome to the Club

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous, fabulous weekend- I know I sure did. I went to Capitola beach  on Saturday and it was a gorgeous day out. After a few exquisitely fresh strawberry margaritas and a nice long walk on the beach, the day was practically over. But Sunday came around and I spent time at home with my mom. We gardened and made a lovely French late lunch consisting of marinated and grilled asparagus, artichokes with diced tomato and olive stuffing, wild rice, and herb lamp chops. And let’s not forget the St. Andre cheese (obviously French), and the divine WINE.

My roommate Zia got me a tee-shirt last year that said, “Will Run For Wine.” This shirt describes me exactly. 😉 A true Frenchie, huh!?

I’m super excited to be posting this week, because it is ANOTHER collaboration! This week is with Trunk Club, an online styling company that recently got acquired by Nordstrom. “Expert style tailored to you,” is their slogan because you talk with a real live stylist in your city, you can come in for fittings, and they find clothing appropriate for whichever occasion. They send you a huge, well packaged trunk full of clothing, accessories, and shoes! A girl’s best dream is most certainly a reality if she uses TrunkClub. My good friend who works for TrunkClub sent me my very own trunk with three pairs of shoes and a beautiful myriad of selected clothing. This week I will show you what I put together thanks to TrunkClub. I do hope you enjoy these outfits as much as I do!

For the first outfit, the shirt, shorts, and gladiator sandals are from Trunk Club.

For the second outfit, the white body suit and the shorts are from Trunk Club.

I can’t wait to post my second round of ‘fits on Thursday, so tune in then for mas. 😉

If you’d like to sign up for TC (which I highly recommend), click here. You will also get $50 off!!!

PS-Thanks JJ for being the best; photo creds go to her, as always.

Vegas Brunchin’

Hey ya’ll! Happy Monday!!

I hope that you all had an amazing weekend. I’m finally on Spring Break, and my plans include (blogging), working with my mom at her interior designing store in the Bay Area, hike Big Sur, go out with my friends, and shred in Lake Tahoe! Wooooootttt!!! 😉

Today’s post is part of a collaboration with Vegas.com (Vegas from the Inside). Having been to Vegas once, I used inspiration from certain Las Vegas hotels and landscapes to create some appropriate looks.   My goal is to show you all what I would wear as my #UltimateVegasOutfit.

This week I will be posting 2 articles; today’s post will be what to wear for brunch and the poolside in Vegas. Everything I would wear is based on what I have in my closet, staying true to both my style and my price point. Later this week I will post 2 night outfits for dinner and the club. Knowing my style, I work elegance and sex appeal into a perfect harmony, so stay tuned!!!

My first outfit is a matching set with chunky heels for a sexy mimosa and three-stack chocolate chip pancakes with a double side of bacon. YUM. Talk about a hang-over cure, amIright?! I absolutely love, love, LOVE this 2 piece set because it’s very summer-y, the print is chic without overdoing it, and very comfortable. Thus, if I do decide to eat all of that brunch platter, I can do so without feeling guilty. My chunky heels are actually really fun to walk in and make me so tall. I’m usually 5’3 but with these I’m pushing 5’9! I could be a runway model! Check out these desert Lana Del Rey/Vegas vibes! This portfolio was so, so much fun to shoot. JJ is really great and she is professional, punctual, and the hardest worker.

IMG_3968 WMIMG_3860IMG_3729 (1)IMG_3826IMG_3953IMG_3987

My second outfit is a long eclectic floral dress that I bought in Brazil. It is also extremely free-flowing and light as a hummingbird feather. My hair chain is actually a gem necklace that I thought would fit a lot better as a crown (hippie style). The dress already has a pretty busy print, so it made more sense to balance it out as a crown. I followed the gem trend and used my clear gem studded earrings to match. My favorite flats since I was a kid have always been short gladiator sandals, and funny enough the south of France (St.Tropez) makes some of the best and most fashionable ones ever! Mine are called “Tropezienne” and I got them in France. I tend to go back every year since I was born there and my family still remains in Grenoble (in the Alps) as well as in Toulon (near Nice). I miss it so much, so when I get a chance to go, I’m always all smiles. 🙂

Not a Hiatus, again!

Hi lovelies,

If you read last week’s post, I said that I would try to post this week. However, between JJ’s final exam schedule and mine, we are having troubles coordinating a proper time to shoot. Moreover, next week is Spring Break and she will be in Los Angeles and I will be in the Bay Area. I will upload daily pictures on my instagram @Fashionsandfilosophies, or my adventures, outfits, and noms. Feel free to check that at any time 😉

I’m super excited because I have two new collaborations in store for you which I will be working on very soon! One is with a jewelry company and the other is top secret!

I feel like Fashions and Filosophies is really getting some attention and it’s an amazing feeling. I feel like I need to re-vamp again, so what better time to do so than at the beginning of a new quarter in April? Just like last year, I re-vamped around my birthday… New year, new me, new blog~ snaps for Frenchie.

Hope you have a terrific week, I love you all!

Harley and Me

Hey ya’ll, aren’t you super thrilled that it’s practically Friday and we just have to get over a few lousy hours at work or school and then it’s “cheers to the freaking weekend!” I know I’m sort of excited minus the fact that next week is finals week for UC Davis so I will be studying this weekend and all of next week. But not to worry, I am praying that JJ and I can get out to shoot for at least one post next week… We shall see, if I don’t post, I will keep you updated! Also it doesn’t help that this weekend is raining like crazy, however, I think that it should come to a halt sometime beginning of next week.

I love the cold, so I’m really not complaining. Plus California really needs rain right now.

JJ and I went to the Harley store in Sacramento and had a kick just walking around like we owned the damn place. Check it out below… Leave me some love! I chose my Alexander McQueen scarf with the skulls for added bad-ass effect and wore my angel wings because I thought it was quite fitting with the Harley logo (also wings). You can also never go wrong with a leather jacket, black skin tight pants, and some oh-so high mega fringe boots (G. Rossi). For a pop of color I took out my preppy girl red Kate Spade tote, for a little bit of femininity. Thoughts….? XX

Fringe Binge

Hello lovelies and HAPPY MONDAY!

I can’t wait to show you what JJ and I have in store for you. This weekend we walked around downtown Sacramento to capture some really cool architectural pictures.

I played around with this white crocheted long sleeve knit top that I bought on sale in Brazil, with a mini printed skirt (which wasn’t that mini before I washed it… Don’t you just hate that?! I do.) The boots are from ShoeDazzle, bought a few years ago. They had black ones at the time but I already had black boots and this brown suede was in, so I opted to push my boundaries and comfort levels with this color. No dire regrets, they fit well.
The coat is from Zara (France) from 2 years ago and it’s so comfy and slouchy, it screams effortlessly chic. Purse=Chanel, needIsaymore? 😉

All White All White, Come Take a Look…

Hi, I hope you got the catchy title’s joke 😉 Based on the fact that everything today is white, a new slate, a new beginning… Putting the past of Fashion Week, failed relationships, and failure behind me, and hopefully this time I mean it when I say I’m starting over and doing me.

It’s really not easy and it’s really too easy to be lazy and let yourself eat through the frustration and pain and romanticize everything but really you shouldn’t do it for too long. Now is the time to pick yourself back up and make things happen for yourself. Let’s go Aries.

Here is a post that is all white, I thought it would look nice, fresh, and professional to welcome Spring (and Global Warming) to Davis. I added the touch of lengthy pearl necklace which I bought in Brazil and everyday that I’m sad I remind myself what it is I found in myself that made me so happy. It’s a wonderful memory that I cherish very much. JJ and I went downtown to the Natsoulas Gallery (also where I read at Poetry Night every first and third Thursday of the month), to check out the local art. Doggie themed never seemed so fun and colorful! It was really fantastic to see these pieces up close and personally. I’m an art fanatic (with a name like Matthis [pronounced like Matisse], I have to be!) Some ceramics were cake and milk, some were dogs, others were little trinkets, but it was definitely a wonderful exhibition to visit.

Let me know what you think of the outfit! The sandals are also from Brazil and are so comfy and chic- I’m crazy for this pattern.
